Etienne Tolno is a professional musician from Guinea, West Africa. His area of expertise is in percussion and dance. He has been practicing music since he was sixteen years old, playing with various professional companies such as Sole Africa, Kissidugu Ensemble, Samato De Guinea, Africa Dance, and Merve De Guinea. He came to the United States for the first time in March of 2019 and since has been sharing West African Drum & Dance with communities all throughout the Nation! He currently lives in Montrose, CO with his wife and children and is a member of the Kissidugu Foundation.
Etienne’s classes are fun and energetic. Whether it’s your first time being introduced to this cultural art form or you are a seasoned participant Etienne directs his classes so everyone can learn together in community. He teaches traditional dances and rhythms that help you learn about the culture and move your body and mind in ways that challenge and excite. For drum class we use djembe’s and for dance class all you need is your body, an open mind and to allow for the drums to move you!
